The team

The Facilities Management and Development (FMD) department of Toronto Metropolitan University is responsible for the campus’s physical environment as well as strategic planning for current and future spaces, including their impacts. FMD is in charge of several functions, including environmental health and safety, facilities services, maintenance and operations, planning and development, project management, real estate, and sustainability.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking for an experienced Caretaker to join our team. As a Caretaker, you will be in charge of cleaning the allocated area and its fixtures and/or furniture to ensure a safe, sanitary, and clean environment for students, teachers, staff, and the Toronto Metropolitan University University Community.

Qualifications

To assist us understand more about you, please submit a cover letter and CV detailing how you meet the following needed qualifications:

Experience as a Caretaker, which includes cleaning commercial or institutional facilities, as well as knowledge of cleaning techniques, waste management, and recycling procedures.
To understand written and vocal instructions, you must have a basic grasp of English.
Knowledge of the most recent Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&S).

A demonstrated commitment to client service, particularly among students, staff, and instructors.
Ability to follow specific specified protocols and methods when doing job obligations, as well as prioritize the order in which allocated areas are cleaned.

Ability to work in unfavorable and unpleasant situations such as dust, dirt, potential risks, etc.
large lifting and other strenuous physical activity are required to execute duties such as continuous walking, standing, repetitive bending, turning, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, and climbing, and transporting large things, among others.

Must be willing to use a scissor lift once sufficient training is received.
Demonstrated ability to operate independently and collaboratively, as well as a track record of punctuality, dependability, and reliability.

Candidates may be asked to demonstrate their qualifications through occupational testing and an interview with a panel of at least three management representatives.
