As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for carrying out a number of regular duties related to basic food preparation in compliance with AHS standards and procedures. Your normal responsibilities may involve packing and portioning food goods, cooking food in accordance with established norms and menus, serving meals to patients and customers, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables, and serving areas.

Required Qualifications:

Completing Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and must be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs. This role demands you to walk and stand on your feet throughout your shift.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Within the last three years, you must have had at least one year of experience in a food service, commercial, or household kitchen. Experience in food inventory management, including managing expiration dates, following FIFO principles, minimizing waste, and restocking grocery/kitchen products (smallware, cleaning supplies, and so on).

Familiarity and comfort in a kitchen environment processing food components, following recipes, and using small and large domestic or commercial appliances (e.g. dishwasher, oven, stove top, microwave). Skill and aptitude to keep work spaces tidy, organized, clean and sterilized as needed.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in English in person, over the phone, and over email. Ability to take instructions from supervisors and managers while also contributing as part of a team. The ability to adhere to established procedures while remaining flexible as necessary. Outlook (email), Word, and internet search are all used at a beginner level.
