We are now seeking a Quality Technician – Nuclear Industry (1-Year Contract) for our Peterborough, Ontario location.At BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. Qualifications:
A diploma or degree in engineering, quality technology, or a related postsecondary education program.
Experience applying and interpreting CSA N285.0, ASME Sec. III, CSA Z299 Series of Standards, ISO 9001:2000, or equivalent standards.
Extensive experience deciphering drawings, technical papers, and purchase orders.
Minimum of three years of experience in quality assurance, or a demonstrated thorough understanding of quality program concepts.
Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
Understanding of procurement practices.
Basic understanding of non-destructive examination reports (RT, UT, LP, MP, etc.), dimensional inspection methods, and weld inspection.
Inspection and testing QA planning, or comparable product/process/equipment certification experience.
Excellent communication abilities and a proven team player.
To become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW), you must pass one or more medical exams.

Duties:
Interpret drawings, technical documents, procedures, purchase orders, ASME & CSA N285.0, and other documents to identify quality assurance needs.
Review of the customer’s quotation to determine quality requirements and provide input to complete the RFQ (request for quote).
Create the inspection and testing plans.
Witness testing to guarantee that test plans are followed (Factory Acceptance Tests, Lift Tests, Pressure Tests, etc.).
Create and submit data packages (history dockets) for design and construction projects.
Use database systems, Microsoft Office products, and Livelink to track, document, record, and retrieve production and documentation data.
Examine records and test results for adherence to quality plan specifications.
Interact with the customer’s quality representative and the jurisdiction on quality issues, ensuring that the inspection and testing plan is followed.
Interact with engineering to establish the appropriate material disposition and corrective actions.
Examine and approve travelers’ conformity to processes, specifications, and other requirements.
Review the purchase order to confirm it is in order.

The starting compensation for this position in Ontario is estimated to be between $80,938.26 and $99,805.68 per year. However, the base wage paid is determined by local job market conditions and may vary further depending on criteria unique to the chosen job candidate, such as work-related knowledge, abilities, experience, and other objective business considerations.
Subject to these factors, the total pay package for this post may contain additional aspects such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a comprehensive set of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
